Facilities Derozio Memorial College

The college has a fully computerized library with reading room facility. It has nearly 9000 books and 7 journals. Keeping in view the continuous upgradation of the library, more than 1000 new books have been purchased from May 2009 to April 2010. A qualified librarian and a library attedent run the library. Uptodate manual and machine readable catalogue facilities are also available in the library.

The Laboratory based Science departments (Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Zoology and Botany) have well-equipped laboratories. Concerned teachers, laboratory instructors and laboratory attendents assist the students in their laboratory work. Zoology and Botany laboratories have been equipped with modern amenities with a view to introducing Micro Biology in future. The Department of Journalism is also equipped with audio visual facilities, News papers etc.

A new Mathematics Laboratory has been set up. Upgradation of Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science Laboratories have been undertaken recently.

IT Laboratory for the Department of Commerce and Psycho Laboratory for the Department of Education will be set up in the forthcoming session.

Internet facility is available in the Department of the Computer Science This facility will also be available in various departments, library, office and teachers' common room during 2010-2011 under a scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Department.

The Library, Office and Departments of Computer Science and Journalism are interconnected through Local Area Network(LAN).

Among other facilities there are Boy's Common Room, Girl's Common Room, Union Room, Cycle Shed, First Aid Facilities and Canteen. Moreover, arrangements have been made to set up a Cheap Book Store so that students can procure books at nominal prices. LCD Projector and Canon Photocopier have been purchased for development in the method of teaching and delivering lectures and for the benifit of the students. All work areas of the institution are well-connected through intercom.

The NCC Unit of the college has stepped into its sixth year. 105 students of the college are cadets of this unit. Sanjib Ghosh, a student of 3rd year, acts as SUO of this unit. Prof. Goutam Chowdhury, Asstt. Professor, Department of Mathematics is in-charge of this unit. The college desires full-hearted involvement of the students in this unit.

A new NSS Unit of the college had been set up in 2006. Presently 100 students are memebers of this unit. Dr. Saikat Mondal, Asstt. Professor, Department of Bengali, is the Programme-officer of this unit.
